Announcement Details :
1) Introduction
Naim Holdings Berhad ("NAIM") is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") on 28th June 2010, with the following parties:-
a) Guangzhou Panyu Economy and Trade Promotion Bureau of Guangzhou, Guangdong, People’s Republic Of China
b) Miri City Council
c) Institute of Digital Guangdong (IDG), of Guangzhou, Guangdong, People’s Republic of China
for the purpose of exploring the prospect of collaborating for the development of Panyu-Miri Smart Cities (PMSC). The PMSC shall create and maintain a special information super highway link between the smart intelligent cities of Panyu and Miri with a “mirror” computer server to be hosted in each other’s cities which will enable users in both cities to enjoy community linked projects.
2) Background Information of the Parties to the MOU
a) Guangzhou Panyu Economy and Trade Promotion Bureau, was set up to implement and monitor the economic and trade policies and to support the development of business enterprises in the province of Guangzhou.
b) Miri City Council is the Council responsible for managing the development of Miri city. Its jurisdiction area is about 997.43 sq km and Miri is the second largest and the youngest city in Sarawak with well planned streets, relatively high middle class population and a healthy economy based largely upon timber, palm oil, oil and gas as well as tourism
c) IDG is a research and planning institution and think-tank development organization in both ICT infrastructure for South China as well as commercialization of digital concepts, homes, buildings and cities with extensive connections with various provinces in South China including Guangdong province as well as district planning councils towards developing digital societies and lifestyles.
d) NAIM is the contractor and property developer listed on the Main Board of the Malaysian Stock Exchange or Bursa Malaysia.
3) Directors’ and Major Shareholders’ interest
None of the directors or major shareholders of the Company or persons connected to them has any interest, direct or indirect, in the said MOU.
